National Stop the Bleed Day Training Event

A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so quickly stopping the bleeding is critical. Often, a family member, friend, or bystander is the closest person to someone with life-threatening injuries and best positioned to provide immediate care if equipped with proper training and resources. Learn the basic skills needed to save the life of someone who is suffering from a bleeding emergency until professional help arrives.
In recognition of National Stop the Bleed Day, the City of Fort Lauderdale Domestic Preparedness and Emergency Management Bureau, Fire Rescue Department, and Police Department are partnering with Broward Health to offer a free, hands-on training event that features:
- a continental breakfast,
- a presentation by Dr. Mario Gomez, Associate Director of Trauma ICU at Broward Health Medical Center,

skills stations to learn basic bleeding control, and

a question and answer session.
