A to Z Waste Disposal Index
Find the right place for each kind of waste!
Choosing the correct method for disposing of things you don't want or need is an important way to Green Your Routine. Putting each type of waste in its proper place channels it into the part of the waste stream where it can have the maximum economic and social value and the minimum environmental impact. Properly disposed waste keeps our city clean, controls disposal costs, helps those in need, keeps us safe, can generate energy, and protects the environment. Use this directory to access detailed directions for disposal. If you can't find an item, you can always call Customer Service. Click on the feedback link above to request items to be added to this directory, and check back frequently for additions.
How to use this index: Where you see a blue hyper-link, click on the listing itself to access detailed disposal instructions and other useful information. Sometimes the link will take you to generalized information if the item you queried fits into that category. Scan the page for specifics.
For quick reference, use the symbols in the chart key below. More than one symbol indicates that there may be more than one disposal option. If there is no hyper-link, please use the symbols as your guide.
Please note that this directory does not yet include information on composting or home collection for waste-to-energy, which may be options for certain materials. We will update options as they become available.
