Automotive Batteries

Automotive batteries are considered hazardous waste.  As such, they should be handled carefully and disposed of properly.  City of Fort Lauderdale residents should follow these guidelines.

Leave your old battery at the auto parts retail store.  Vendors who sell automotive batteries generally participate in disposal programs that channel batteries to the appropriate processors.  There may a be small fee for this service.

Bring your old batteries to a City of Fort Lauderdale Household Hazardous Waste Event.  Automotive batteries, and batteries of all types, may be dropped at our periodic events.
