Solid Waste Disposal & Clean-up Events
The City of Fort Lauderdale offers three ways for you to join us in reducing waste in our community. Please check our City and GYR Calendars frequently to stay up to date about event announcements.
Drop-off Events
These are periodic events taking place in our city, or in partner cities nearby, during which you can bring household hazardous waste, electronics, and sometimes medications and also documents for shredding. Participation in the events is free of charge, but requires proof of residency. Generally, these events are for our residential community only.
"Adoption" Opportunities
Through our Office of Neighbor Support, and through partner organizations, we offer opportunities for you to adopt streets and other parts of our City. Families, businesses, homeowners associations and other organizations can volunteer to watch over specific parts of our City. We may offer Community Service hours and also Sustainability Incentive Grant points for these activities.
Focused Clean-Up Days
Several times per year we gather together with our neighbors and get outside to clean up parts of our City. Whether it's collecting trash out of waterways or off the beach, clearing storm drains of debris, rounding up air potatoes, or removing invasives, there is always a way to get involved. We greatly appreciate your enthusiastic participation.
