Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Drop-off Events

Household-Hazardous-WasteThe City of Fort Lauderdale has partnered with neighboring communities to provide convenient, new options for residents to dispose of household hazardous waste and electronics. This event will take place in the City of Pompano Beach. Proof of residency is required via drivers license or utility bill.

Please refer to our Waste Disposal Directory to learn more about proper disposal of  Household Hazardous Waste, electronics, medication and many other items.

A complete list of what we accept and do not accept at drop off events can be found here.  For more information, contact City of Fort Lauderdale Customer Service.

Residents should continue to dispose of yard waste through the City’s curbside Yard Waste or Bulk Trash Collection Programs. Remember, it is dangerous and illegal to place any oil wastes, dangerous substances or hazardous material for garbage collection. (Code of Ordinances Article I Sec. 24-25)

Household Hazardous Waste

Fort Lauderdale residents are invited to participate in ANY of the drop-off events posted on our calendar.  Cooperative agreements with other cities provide our residents with free access to dispose of hazardous waste and electronics in partnering cities. The drop-off events are critical to protecting the environment by reducing the volume of waste in landfills and preventing the contamination of ground water.  Note that, effective October 1, 2013, Fort Lauderdale’s neighbors are no longer able to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW), electronics, or yard waste at any of Broward County’s drop-off locations. This service change reflects a decision to streamline fiscal spending for the City’s neighbors.
