The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking input on a new canal dredging assessment program.
The City owns 57 miles of canals that require periodic dredging to remain navigable. In an effort to improve the level of service to our neighbors and maintain property values, we have developed a proactive program to dredge City-owned canals on a seven-year cycle.
The City is considering an annual assessment for properties along the City canals to fund dredging costs. The assessment
would be based on the number of linear feet of private property that front a City-owned canal.
We encourage neighbors to attend the upcoming public meeting to provide input. For more information, visit www.fortlauderdale.gov/canal.
Please note that two or more City of Fort Lauderdale elected officials may attend the meeting.
