Status of the Bridges
Nurmi Drive and Fiesta Way –The contractor will continue to have single lane closures as needed for completion of the sidewalks and the approaches to the bridges. Flaggers will be present to guide motorists. Once construction on all of the bridges is completed, they will be painted and decorative elements, including the letters and urns, will be installed. This is expected this summer.
Sunrise Key Boulevard – Work continues on the sidewalk, curb and gutter, approaches to the bridge, and restoration of the pre-construction landscaping, lighting, and gates. Final asphalt paving is scheduled for week of April 11, and then the contractor will restore the brick pavers that were in place prior to the start of construction. Signalization will be removed once the brick pavers are in place. At this time, construction on Sunrise Key Boulevard is expected to be completed in April.
Royal Palm Drive – Traffic is now in phase two with the traffic on the east half of the new bridge. The contractor will soon work on the concrete deck pour followed by the approaches to the bridge and the traffic railing. The full bridge is expected to open in late April, with the removal of the temporary signals to follow. At this time, construction on Royal Palm Drive is expected to be completed this summer.
Isle of Venice – Traffic is now in phase two with traffic on the east half of the new bridge. Pile driving is ongoing and is expected to be completed in the next two weeks. At this time, construction on Isle of Venice is expected to be completed this summer.
Las Olas Boulevard – Paving on Las Olas will begin in mid-April. Following paving, the north side sidewalk will be reconstructed and the landscaping and lighting will be restored.
