Waterway Cleanups and Events
Waterway Clean-up Events
Whether you need service hours or just like being outside near the water, there are several events during the year that you can attend to learn about water conservation and to help keep our waterways clean. Here are just a few. Check our calendar for more.
The Ocean Conservancy is a non-profit that is focused on environmental advocacy group that uses science-based solutions to help develop U.S. policy relating to our oceans. The Broward County Coastal Cleanup is an annual event sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy. Participants can choose from 13 different locations hosting cleanups throughout the county.
Water Matters Day is a Broward County sponsored event that is educational and fun. Booths are set up throughout a local park. Kids can use a special event passport to visit booths, complete activities and qualify for a free tree. Along the way there are useful give-aways, like toilet leak detection tablets that we give away at our City of Fort Lauderdale booth. There are also crafts to be made, animals to see, and great organizations offering after school activities and camps.
